By Steve Sikes
I am going to tell you a true story about my American Express Blue Sky Credit Card from American Express and the Purchase Protection Plan and how the benefits really paid off in real time.
This story starts out at Wal-Mart near our house in Florida where I was looking in the garden center for a gas grill. I was going to have a party at my house that night and had about eight people coming over and wanted to have a new gas grill with some space on it to barbeque pork steaks and salmon.
I have a smaller Weber Kettle type grill that we have been using for about five years and decided to break down and buy a nice stainless steel grill with propane. The one I picked out was beautiful and had three main turn on valves that like with auto ignition and also had another burner for a side dish
I was really excited and it was early morning so I decided to buy this grill. I basically use my American Express BlueSky card for all of my personal purchases because it builds air miles for me at a rate of 1 point per dollar spent. The BlueSky credit card also allows you to use those points on any airline and has no blackout dates.
The American Express BlueSky credit card also has great benefits like automatic car rental insurance and one I was unaware I would ever use and that was the purchase protection plan.
I called my friend who has a truck as this grill was not going to fit in either of my cars as it was completely assembled. I hate to assemble anything and was glad it was all together and ready to start up when I got it home. I paid for the grill and propane with my American Express Blue Sky credit card and proceeded outside to wait for Bob to show up with his Dodge Ram 1500 to take this beautiful gas grill back to the house.
Bob showed up a few minutes later and we lifted everything into the back of the truck and put bungy cords on the grill to make sure it would not fall over and be secured. He followed me in my wife’s little Toyota Scion and we proceeded to drive back to our house. I was imagining how great our barbeque was going to be with this new gas grill.
We got all the way into my neighborhood and drove back in along the two mile road leading into my section of the neighborhood. Bob was driving slow and we got closer and closer with one street to go to turn onto and get the grill into my back screen patio. I knew my wife was also excited about getting the grill and was wanting to see it and what it looked like.
I made the final turn and could see our house up on the right side when all of the sudden I here this loud clanging noise and could hear metal pieces hitting the ground. I looked back and saw Bob had stopped the large Dodge pickup truck and was out in the street looking down which was not a good sign.
I walked back and the stainless steel grill was all bent up and the handle broken. It was completely ruined. Bob was very upset and so was I. The bungy cord had actually held the grill but it had come off of the bed of the truck and was hanging on the side of the truck. We knew there was no way Wal-mart would take this bent up gas grill back and I really didn’t want to use a damaged grill after paying so much money for it.
I then remembered something I had read in my benefits package with my American Express BlueSky credit card. It was the Purchase Protection Plan and remembered examples they used about the program and thought it was such a great idea.
So I got on the phone and called American Express and spoke to one of the customer service representatives. He told me this was a separate department that handled the Purchase Protection Claims and gave me the phone number. I called the number and they took down all of the information on what had happened. They told me to hang on to the damaged grill for a couple of weeks while the claim was being processed and told me I could go down and get a replacement grill. I got a claim number and that was all I had to do.
I then drove down with Bob and picked up the new gas grill replacement. We had our Barbeque that night and the gas grill worked great and everyone had a fantastic time at the party. The American Express BlueSky Purchase Protection Plan had saved the day.
Two days later I had my refund on my American Express BlueSky Card as I verified it with my online account.
I will always recommend to anyone the Amex BlueSky Credit Card for all of the reasons I have just mentioned. If you would like to order your own just click here at Blue Sky from American Express

Grilling Terms and Features
It's reasonable if you have a hard time understanding grilling terms when you do not comprehend them. Grilling terms can be perplexing at first but once you grasp the concept it's a lot easier.
Grilling Terms
To express the heat value of fuels and the cooking power. That is the definition of a British Thermal Unit or BTU. Some simple math will determine the sum of heat that your grill produces. To find out the heat that your grill produces take the amount of space available for food preparation and divide it by the total amount of BTU's. You will require at least ninety-five to one hundred BTU's per square inch of cooking room to get the best buy.
Features to Consider
A grill feature to consider is the dimension of the grilling surface. Resilience and ease of cleaning are also important grill features to take into account. Charcoal grills are quite messy and more challenging to clean up then other grills but they are quite durable. Gas grills are quite the opposite. Grills come in a collection of surface types and sizes. All of these different cooking surfaces can vary in size including BBQ surfaces, flat grills, and ribbed grills.
Portability is a key grill feature to judge if you ever do any away from your home. Natural gas grills need a fixed line so those are out of the question. Propane grills can be portable but you have to lug around the heavy propane tank as well. A charcoal grill is probably the best option for portability as they come in the smallest sizes available. Safety is the last as well if you follow the same guideline. Charcoal is also very harmless as there is no gas involved at all. If you still don't get all the information provided about the grill, it may be a good idea to speak with a professional. Particular stores designed for outdoor grills and outdoor grill accessories would be a great place to start. Department stores may also have professionals knowledgeable about outdoor grills, and chances are at least one employee in the store can help you, if on nothing else but by personal opinion.

Chicken Steak Recipe
Eating steak has always been a symbol of prosperity. During the turn of the century, steak houses were patronized by the elite. The cattle and the oil barons ate their thick cuts of sirloins smothered with oysters or stuffed with them making it too expensive of a place for the common folk.
This is one source for my inspiration. How many times have you been into a restaurant, and had a dish that was just so good, you had to try making it for yourself at home? I know I have. At least one of my better recipes was inspired by a dinner I had on my first anniversary at a local Italian restaurant.
It is very rare for chicken fried steak to be made from a top quality cut of beef. After all, the steak is not being expected to stand entirely on its own, so it is not vital that it be perfect. Additionally, the frying of the steak has a tenderizing effect on the meat, which also permits a slightly lower quality cut of meat to be used. Obviously, there is a limit, but chicken fried steak is more forgiving than steak on the grill.
Wing sauces aren't just useful for chicken wings you know. You can use them on any chicken part. You can even use them on ribs, pork chops and steaks. While wing sauces are typically mixed with the wings after frying, you can use wing sauces to marinate meats as well. They also make great seasonings to such viands like steak, meatloaf and various fried foods.
For something a little more unusual from the list of steak recipes, chicken-fried steak has become an enjoyable alternative to the same old steak. While you probably would not use a high grade of steak for this particular recipe, it is a nice addition to the repertoire when the steak is nothing to shout about.
Steak Lover`s Fettuccini Alfredo
1 ounce clarified butter 4 ounces beef tenderloin tips 1 cup broccoli, red pepper, portabella strips 1/4 cup corn, scallion, red and green peppers (small diced) 1 tablespoon fresh garlic 1 cup heavy cream
If need be add more seasonings half way through the cooking. Also you don't want to over cook the rice, it will come out very mushy and not good, keep an eye on your rice, stirring occasionally. Bon Appetite!
A popular addition to menus in recent years in restaurants, cafes and bars is a king size or giant Yorkshire pudding filled with onion gravy or different meat, vegetable and gravy concoctions. This dish is served as a separate course emulating the original filler course.
Now for the recipe, I don't use specific amounts. Eye ball it and adjust for your own tastes. What's most important is that you soak your chicken in buttermilk (about 15 minutes), after dipping in flour let it rest before frying (at least 5 minutes), make sure your oil is hot enough, and only fry a few tenders at a time.
Outback is one of my favorite restaurants. Their steak is juicy and delicious, but their chicken recipe entrees are just as good. The next time you go down to the land down under, I recommend you try one of these entrees I have suggested!

How to Make the Best of Your Barbeque
A BBQ is perhaps the most primitive method of cooking food. Our ancestors must have come across this method as a result of some experiment to prepare a wild animal for a meal. By chances or choice, the barbeque became so successful that it is loved and used even today by millions of people across the world.
The art of the BBQ has been broadly divided into three categories. To begin with, the traditional and most popular mode of BBQ is grilling. As most of us know, food is cooked on a grill over a layer of coals in this method. Secondly, using a dry-cooking BBQ, done via heat from smoke, is another method. Lastly, the method of cooking that is loved by many is where meat or some other food is cooked close to a fire using coals, gas or wood. Even though you can use gas barbeques, traditionalists feel that the taste of the meat on gas barbecues is not as good as on charcoal BBQs.
A barbecue is prepared in a pit. This is the traditional barbecuing method, in which a hole is dug in the ground to hold a fire and a grate or grill is placed over it, to put the food on top of to cook.
Traditional BBQ lovers assert that the heat in the pit should be equal to the temperature of boiling water (100 degrees Celsius). This is important, as when the heat remains equal to the boiling point, the meat and food will not lose its natural flavour and juices. Barbecuing is rather a slow method of cooking, which normally takes several hours to cook your food. However, you may cook it at a higher temperature, as long as you do not burn the outer layer of the food and the food also does not remain uncooked in the middle. Meats of all sorts get very hard to eat if you overcook them.
Some people also like to smoke the meat for an hour or so. Later they wrap it firmly in foil to raise the heat and lessen the time of cooking. It is an effective method of barbeque cooking; however, sometimes it may take away the smoke flavour from your meat.
BBQ sauces are also an imperative ingredient in your barbeque cooking. Basting sauce adds great flavor and particularly, with regard to barbecue terms, it is called a mop sauce. This sauce should not have tomato or sugar in it. This is because tomato and sugar gets burned quickly at a low temperature and becomes bitter as well. Once your BBQ is ready, add finishing sauces to it as a final touch. You can put your favorite homemade or bottled sauce on it.
The choice of meat and the sauces also depend on your personal choice. The vegetables or spices that you would like to add to the BBQ, along with the meat, are also your personal preference. You can opt for beef, baby goats' meat, chicken or pork; as all are delicious on a BBQ.

Grilling Will Still Produce a Beautiful Red Lobster
Lobsters have been referred to as bottom feeder, the cockroaches of the oceans, and much more. However, what most people can agree on, no matter where lobsters sit on the food chain, is that they are delicious. With so many different ways of preparing a lobster there is bound to be a lobster dish that you will find delicious as well. Interestingly enough, the red lobster on your plate looks pretty different from the lobster before it became fit to be eaten. For the most part they are mottled creatures that you would think twice before eating if you had never heard of lobster before. Imagine how hungry the first person who ate lobster must have been to give it a try, but lucky for everyone that they did!
While cooking lobster is not difficult, there are some basics that you should understand before starting. The first thing is whether you are going to cook the lobster alive or kill it first. Either way is not for the squeamish, however, splitting it with a knife is much faster than steaming it or boiling it alive. It is much debated whether a lobster can feel anything anyway, however, many people feel that it is inhumane to cook any creature alive. Lobsters are kept alive until purchase because the best taste comes from live lobster and it loses its flavour and tenderness if it is refrigerated or frozen.
While steaming and boiling are traditionally the most common ways to cook a lobster, and they give you that perfect red lobster look when it is done, grilling has also become a very popular and delicious way to cook a lobster. Before you can grill, you do have to boil it for a few minutes. This serves two purposes, first to kill the lobster (if you haven't already) and secondly to ensure that it is cooked thoroughly, something that is very important in seafood. You should not boil it until it is completely cooked, you want to leave some of the cooking for the grill so that the grilling flavour penetrates the lobster. Before grilling you are going to have to cut the lobster in half (from stem to stern) and remove the black vein running down the tail. Baste the lobster with flavour of your choice (usually butter and sometimes lemon) and grill on the shell side until done.
You will still have a red lobster if you grill because it is the heat that creates the red color in the shell, however grilling does mean cutting the lobster up so the presentation will not be as beautiful as when you steam or boil. However, the flavour will more than make up for the lack of beauty in the plating. Enjoy!

How To Lose Weight And Keep A Perfect Figure For Ever
First impressions count a lot and how you look affects not only you but how other people treat you. If you look trim and care about about your appearance people will treat you with greater respect than if you turn up as a slob. How people react affects you and your self confidence.
Being in control of your weight will give the right impression and so help you with feeling good about yourself. Not only this but it helps with reducing your risk to having seroius health issues in later life, give you greater energy and verve to enjoy life to the full and make life so much sweeter.
You want to be the person who walks down the street or along a beach, people take a second look at for the right reason. Getting your weight under control need not be a big deal, only small but positive steps need to be taken to make huge changes over time.
Follow these simple but fast working steps that can change your life for ever.
Realistic Goals
Your end goal maybe to lose 50 pounds but that cannot be acheived overnight. It needs a different outlook on life to continue to keep up the good work with any sort of diet. Be realistic in your approach and aim to lose a couple of pounds every week by making simple changes. If you lose it too fast it will be almost certain to on again just as quick. To keep weight off long term requires a different perspective on your whole life and how you run it. Making steady gains every week will be easy and great for the confidence rather than lose 8 pounds the first week and then nothing for the next two. Make a chart of your progress and only weigh yourself once a week, not every day.
Exercise
The is the part of any diet that we all hate, would it not be easy to just do nothing and the weight fall off! There are pills out there that can help such as appetite suppressants, but you can not realistically take them for the rest of your life. Fine for a couple of weeks or a month maybe, but not long term. There is a simple equation, if you eat more calories than you use then you will put weight on, if you eat fewer calories than you use you will lose weight. Sounds very simple but its true. If you do not want to starve yourself and still have those chocolate treats then the answer is to use the extra calories in exercising. In the long run you will feel better and be able to do more and enjoy life like you thought was not possible. The more you do the more you have the motivation and the ability to do. Would it not be better to get out there for a game of tennis rather than have to sit on the sidelines. Start slowly but take regular exercise and the weight will stay off for ever.
Everyone Is Different!
When ever someone starts a diet they have different goals. The amount of weight they want to lose, their age their activity levels etc etc. Its no use trying a designed for a 20 year old who works out in the gym 5 times a week if you are someone in their 50's with bad knees! Everyones body metabolism reacts differently to different fast weight loss programs and plans. You need to work out what is going to possible for you and how long its going to take. When celebrities go on diet they tend to hide away from the media and 2 months later appear with the weight gone. Take your time and work out your own plan.
Control Your Appetite
One of the biggest problems about a diet is the feeling of being hungry all the time. Make sure you have a good breakfast that includes lots of fibers as it will make you feel fuller for longer. Fiber stays in the tummy longer, slowing down the rate of digestion. A single serving of whole grain bread moves fat through the digestive system faster. Grains turn into blood sugar that spikes the body's insulin level. This will make the body more energized and ready to tell the body when it should stop burning fats or start storing.
Healthy Eating
Even if you are not on a crash diet it makes sense to eat healthily anyway. Fried foods especially deep fried contain a great amount of fat so try to saty away from them. Although fish and chicken appear leaner than beef, this white meat can contain more fat than when a beef is fried. The best way to cook anything is to either steam vegetables and grill meat, this will keep the calorie down to a minimum and not add anything to with the cooking process. The flavour of the food comes out more and is the healthy option.
Keep Hydrated
Its very important to drink lots of fluid. Every dietician or doctor you speak to will say that everyone should drink at least six to eight glasses of water a day reagrdless of whether they are on a diet or not. The body is made up of approx 65% water by weight and almost 98% on the molecular scale so it make sense that we need lots of water just to survive. Not that we want to but we can skip days on end without actually eating but we would not survive very long without having water. Both the body and the skin work and look better when our fluid levels are high and then we can easily get rid of toxins.
To lose weight fast and to keep it off long term needs both discipline and consistency. Light dieting, regular exercise and taking the right amount of supplements every day is the way to change your life for ever.
Most peoples weight yo yos up and down as thet take one diet after another but never getting the basics right.
Use these simple steps to make a start and have a new approach that you can continue. Enjoy everything to the fullest with greater a zest for life.

Beginners Grilling Tips
Grilling is one of many great American tradition that many enjoy each and every year. If you are just starting your journey into grilling you may have some questions about proper grilling techniques and your grill.
Be Prepared
Just like the boy scout saying, you should always prepare before you plan a barbecue. What you serve should reflect the event that you are celebrating and the people that will be attending. You are sure to find at least a few items that will please your crowd with the wide selection of food you have.
While you can't control the weather, planning ahead will help you avoid bad weather and extreme conditions. Check the weather forecast a few days before and you will have much better odds of having a nice time. There's nothing worse than getting rained out after putting all the work into the food preparation and getting people together.
Cleaning Tips
Taking care of your grill is quite easy. All it takes are some common items you probably have laying around your house all ready. If not they are in most department and grill stores.
Always give your grill a good brush down after use. Also the longer you wait to clean if off the harder it becomes. You should use a wire grill brush to brush off all the surfaces. If you clean routinely, you will prevent any type of buildup.
After cleaning all the surfaces of your grill, focus on the racks. This is where the food will touch when it is cooking so it's very important to clean it regularly. Start washing the racks with soap after you finish the brushing. If the racks are really dirty, you will also want to use some steel wool bristle pads. Rinse off all soap before you use the grill again. Do this every time you grill or you may damage your grill.
Most issues arise from lack of cleaning and maintenance. So if your grill isn't working correctly then chances are it can be fixed with just a simple cleaning. Even if you clean it, and still find that it is having problems, at least you saved yourself the potential embarrassment of taking it to a professional only to find out all it needed was to be cleaned.
Cover Your Grill
Covers are out there for almost every grill available. If yours didn't come with one go buy one! I can't stress that enough. Many newbie grill owners make the common mistake of leaving your grill uncovered. That is just asking for weather damage and possibly buildup inside of your grill. So if you cover up your outdoor grill, then all you will ever need to do is do the regular maintenance listed above.

How Long Does It Take To Grill Baked Potatoes, 3 Grilling Methods, 3 Different Times
Potatoes being baked on the grill is no different from potatoes being baked in the oven. So the same rules apply when determining the doneness of baked potatoes on the grill. When the potato is done baking the skin will puff up, turn golden brown, and crispy. Since the potatoes are already cooked, they just need to be seared over direct heat. * To par-cook the potatoes simply simmer them in some water. Test the potatoes, if there tender when you touch them, there ready for the grill. Dry them well, then coat the potatoes with oil. All you have left to do now is to place them on the grill and sear them. When the skin begins to to look crispy, there done. This technique will take about 15 minutes.
2. Cook Baked Potato From Start To Finish On The Grill
* When building your charcoal fire, make a mound of most of the charcoals on one side of the grill. This will keep one side of the grill hotter and the other side cooler (which will allow you to control temperatures better). On a gas grill heat one side of the grill to about medium high. Keep the other side medium low. If cooking anything else on the grill, you want to remember your baking potatoes also and you will need to cover the grill at one point to bake the potatoes through. This technique will take about 30 to 40 minutes, depending on how hot your grill is.
3. Wrap The Potato In Foil * Wrapping the potatoes in foil is great way to toss in some other foods with it and blend flavors. When grilled this way the potatoes steam to a moist but firm texture. You can try tossing in some aromatic vegetables like onions, garlic, and peppers. These will melt into the potatoes for extra flavor. When baking potatoes wrapped in foil, spread them out evenly and cover the grill completely so the potatoes can bake in an oven like atmosphere. This technique will take about 30 to 40 minutes, depending on how hot your grill is.

Tips for grilling steaks on a gas grill
Grilled to Perfection: Tips to Keep the Sizzle in Your Gas Grilled Steak
Are you tired of guessing the best ways to prepare the grill and the meat? Have you eaten enough over-cooked, dry steak? Have you wondered how restaurants produce those steaks with the picture perfect grilling pattern? If you answered 'yes' to any of those questions, then you will appreciate these simple tips. Here are some answers to common questions about grilling steaks.
What temperature? Before you get started, determine how everyone likes their steak cooked. Use the highest heat for rare or medium-rare, and medium heat for medium or well-done. This sounds counterintuitive, but the rarer steaks need to cook fast at a high heat in order to sear the outside and keep the inside rare. The more well-done steaks should cook slowly on a medium heat in order to avoid burning the outside and drying out the inside.
How to prepare the grill? Oil the grill by brushing a thin layer of oil on the grates. You can also rub the steak fat onto the grate using tongs.
How to prepare the meat? While the grill is heating, remove the steaks from the refrigerator and let them come to room temperature before placing on the grill. Rinse and trim the fat.
How to treat the meat? Keep the steaks moist and tender by coating with a thin layer of cooking oil and the seasoning of your choice. A little salt and as much pepper as you like are good default seasonings. You can also try garlic powder, or a dash of cayenne pepper.
When to flip the steak? Look for signs that the steak is starting to bleed through. You'll see small red spots, which will tell you it's time to flip the steak over.
Although you only need to flip it once, flipping it multiple times will create a nice criss-cross pattern. Grill each steak for one minute. Turn on the grill on the other side for one minute. Then, turn and replace at a 45-degree angle for half of the remaining cooking time. Turn once more at a different 45-degree angle for the final minutes on the grill.
How long should it cook? Although a thermometer (see below) is suggested, it's good to have a general idea of how long to cook each steak. Here are some general guidelines, depending on the thickness of the steak: Minutes Thickness Rare Medium Well 1" 8-10 12-14 16-20 1 1/2" 10-14 16-20 22-26 2 12-16 18-22 24-28
When is the meat done? We all know the cut and look method to determine of the meat is done. This isn't ideal, because if it's too late, then you've overcooked the steak. If it's too soon, then you run the risk of drying out the meat. This is the perfect time to use a meat thermometer, ideally a meat fork.
When is the meat ready to eat? The steak continues to cook for abut 5minutes after you remove it from the grill. Keep this in mind when determining the optimal temperature for your preferred 'doneness'. Let the steaks rest for 5 minutes before eating.
Few things say summer like the sizzle and aroma of a steak cooking on your gas grill. Grilling the perfect steak may be easier than you realize. And if you follow these easy tips, you'll be sure to dazzle your guests and family. Just remember that with a little preparation, some patience, and the right tools, grilling the perfect steak to please everyone is easy. Follow these tips, and you can just sit back and relax. Let your grill do the work for you.

Finding And Choosing The Best Gas Grills On Sale
There are some key options to keep in mind when you're in the market to buy gas grills on sale. Every year, during late Spring, people start feeling the itch to get their grills on and start cooking or to buy a new gas grill and accessories to continue or start their grilling carreers. In shopping for a GAS GRILL, you've surely come across names like Weber, Ducane, Brinkman, Coleman, etc.. All these gas grills have several basic features that make for a great grill and will help you choose from all the grills on sale.
Heat distribution is pivotal to successful grilling. If you have a even heat distribution, you're on your way to great BBQ-ing and grilling. To evenly distribute heat on the grate surface, grills can implement ceramic briquettes, vented metal plates, and porcelain-coated cast-iron bars or stainless steel grates. User reviews and testing have resulted in the opinion that porcelain-coated cast-iron bars or stainless steel grates are the most efficient way to distribute heat on the grate surface of a gas grill
As evident in the importance of heat distribution, good barbecue is about temperature control. Variable temperature settings and controls are pivotal in grilling. A good grill will give you the ability to slow roast and sear your food; along with grilling. Most high-end models will include this option; being able to control the temperature of different burners.
In terms of BTU, users have had many discussions as to the value of this spec in evaluating a grill. BTU in gas grills isn't the most important feature to look at in grill comparision. You'd be better served to concentrate on heat distribution, size, etc... That doesn't mean that BTU should be discounted, however. When comparing gas grills on sale in the same "class", huge variations in BTU ratings (lower ratings) should definitely be a sign or warning. There may be a heat intensity or timing issue with the particular unit.
Now for a more obvious, but often overlooked detail - Grate spacing. If you've ever grilled, you've had the odd piece of meat or vegetable fall into the fire - a martyr for "the cause". You can stop this before it happens by choosing a grill with closely spaced grates and possibly bigger rods.
Other extras that can be nice are shelves and warming racks. Shelves on gas grills are great for slicing and dicing, preparing marinades and sauces, and for storing ingredients and tools. Warming racks are the best for toasting buns or re-warming meat that's been off the grill.
To make your gas grill a one stop shop, get a gas grill with a side burner. Anything that you can't cook on the grill can be cooked to your liking on the burner just like in a conventional kitchen. A side burner is perfect for side dishes. You'll probably pay a bit more for a side burner, so evaluate your needs for one. you may be able to use this extra money for other things you may need after buying your gas grill.
Finally, keep in mind that you'll have to buy some other essential, grilling things and accessories. You'll most likely have to purchase a liquid propane tank (usually, sold separately). If you're going to store your grill outdoors, a gas grill cover will be a necessary investment. Of course, what grill would be complete without a proper wire brush, tongs, a witty apron and hat, and other tools, etc... Evaluate the features you really need and dive into it. Make a list of the options we've talked about above and start shopping for the perfect gas grill; whether it be online shopping or reading reviews. Use what you've learned here and match it with your budget and you'll have no issues navigating the plethora of gas grills on sale!

A Delicious Tri Tip Roast Recipe
Do you like to throw big barbecues in your backyard every weekend? Is throwing a few steaks on the grill and relaxing with your friends the ultimate fun for you? If this is true you may want to try buying a tri-tip. One of the best cuts of beef and enough to serve many people yet it is one of the least expensive steaks you can buy. One large steak versus a bunch of little steaks is easier and better for grilling and one tri-tip can easily feed 5-6 people.
Many people on the East Coast are unfamiliar with the tri-tip as a steak. East Coaster's see the tri-tip as a roast which technically it is but when grilled the taste resembles that of a steak. All the BBQ restaurants on the West Coast are guaranteed to be cooking up this cut of beef.
Steaks can be prepared in many ways. Once way is to marinate the meat overnight so that the flavors can fully incorporate into the meat. You can also use a dry rub which you put on just before placing on the grill. One favorite method of cooking is to use a dry rub and add your favorite flavored BBQ sauces ten minutes before its finished cooking leaving it with a crisp crust and juicy center. Be sure to grill your tri-tip over indirect heat at approximately 325 degrees. This way the meat is actually slowly cooked so that it comes out tender and succulent.
Don't be in a hurry with the tri-tip though it can easily take 60-90 minutes to cook or more depending on size. Figure approximately 30 minutes per pound cooking time.
If you are the type of person who has to burn the heck out of a steak to eat it then the tri-tip is definitely not for you. The tri-tip should be served medium or even medium rare. When the center temperature reaches 140 degrees it is time to remove it from the grill. Let it sit uncovered for about 10 minutes to allow the juices to settle and not pour out at the first slice. Enjoy!

Barbecue's Essential Tools
When the sun shines bright, you know it is time for barbecuing again. A barbecue is best enjoyed with families and friends. There are many barbecue tools to help you manage your food easily, but how do you know which tools you are going to need for your barbecue? Walk into any store that provides barbecue tools, and you will find hundreds of them gazing at you. Picking the right tools will not only help you cook your food better, but it will also help to minimise cuts and burns when you are barbecuing. With the help of these tools, it will enhance your barbecue experience too.
First of all, we have the grill basket. A grill basket is best for grilling all kinds of food, from vegetables to fish and meat. The reason for purchasing a grill basket is because it is easier for you to toss the food around in a batch rather than having to do it individually. For example, it is a pain to toss the vegetables around piece by piece, when you have so many cut vegetables being laid out on the grill. A grill basket will help to ease the pain by tossing everything in one go - and it saves time too.
Nowadays, we can purchase grill liners made from heavy duty aluminium or even silicon. This means it is more durable for frequent use on barbecue. These liners are helpful with the cleaning after a barbecue. A liner fits on most barbecue sets, and once you have cooked the food, just throw the liner out (or in the case of silicon, simply wash and re-use it). You will have cleaner bars underneath, so you don't have to spend a lot of time scrubbing the bars when cleaning your BBQ. No one likes to spend time cleaning - especially tough cleaning.
There are fry pans that go well with your barbecue set. It sounds crazy, but getting a fry pan for your barbecue will help you save time tossing the food around, and minimise cuts and burns too. There are little holes on the pan small enough to avoid food from falling out and all you need to do is to spread the food - be it vegetables, fish or meat - on the pan, and the heat will do the job. It is so much easier when you don't have to turn the food piece by piece, as it will take a longer time, and you might suffer burns too.
A meat thermometer is important to ensure that you cook your meat, fish or vegetables at the right temperature. This is very important to kill off any bacteria in the food. You might think that you will be able to judge the cooking temperature by just looking at the food itself but no, you can't tell by having a look at it. You need to check the temperature using the meat thermometer. Some thermometers come in the shape of a fork, so you just stick the fork into the meat to check the temperature. They are easy to use.
Now that you have learnt about the tools, perhaps it is time to revise what you need to purchase the next time you are having a barbecue. Always remember to have fun along the way instead, of feeling stressed out planning your barbecue.

Barbecue With Charcoal
A BBQ is one of the most delicious methods of cooking, and is widely loved by people around the world. It is also one of the traditional methods of cooking, which has reached to us through our ancestors, when they lived in jungles and hunted animals for food. It is interesting to note that despite being such a primitive method of cooking, the barbeque has become still more popular today. This is because of the great taste and fun attached to cooking meat and other foods on barbeque.
Amongst various BBQ fuels, barbeque charcoal is the most loved and popular fuel for BBQs. In the past, charcoal was made by setting fire to wood piles and then covering it with dirt and allowing it to rumble. It is also made by heating wood in the absence of oxygen. Presently, BBQ fuel is processed charcoal briquettes. Charcoal briquettes are small molded pieces of fuel made with wood and clay. As a matter of fact, many people who are particular about the original method and taste of barbeques do not like to use artificial charcoal.
The best thing about barbecue charcoal is that it cooks low and slow. The meat you cook using BBQ charcoal is very tender. The taste you get from using barbeque charcoal is an absolute delight for your taste buds. The idea is to let the meat cook well, and carefully watch the temperature.
Cooking with charcoal is cheap, and it is also easy to make use of portable barbecues that you can take along with you while traveling.
Those who are fussy with regard to taste prefer charcoal over gas. Barbecuing with charcoal adds special flavour to your food. It is the best way to cook burgers, steak, or chicken. You need to be careful when you light the coals. There are many ways to set the fire, however the traditional method is with a charcoal chimney starter. This is a conventional method to get consistent heat from the coals. Beside this, another method to light the charcoal for BBQ is it to soak it with aliphatic petroleum solvent or pretreated briquettes.
Another way to cook with charcoal is to use an electric iron to heat the coals. You can also find electrical charcoal lighting devices along with containers that pile it on a piece of crumpled newspaper and make use of the paper to make the coals glow. You may adopt any method you like, as the main idea is to enjoy the smoky taste given out by hot coals.
Cooking with charcoal has certain drawbacks as well. Charcoal produces hydrocarbons and soot speck, which contaminates the air and intensifies heart and lung issues. Moreover, when the fat from the meat falls into it, polycyclic hydrocarbons and heterocyclic amines are made. These are compounds which can cause cancer.
To avoid these threats, you should choose charcoal certified by the Rainforest Alliance's SmartWood program, as they are 100 % oak hardwood. They also do not contain coal, oil, limestone, starch, sawdust or petroleum products.

Why Choose A Gas BBQ Grill?
There are few things as American as a summer barbecue. Whether you are grilling steak, chicken, hamburgers, hot dogs or even vegetables cooking out on a gas barbeque grill is a wonderful way to enjoy a meal with friends. While some barbeque purists will argue that charcoal is the best form of BBQ I believe that a top quality gas barbeque grill is superior, in every respect. Charcoal grills are great for camp outs but the hassle and mess it creates are no longer necessary to enjoy a great grilling experience. Benefits of Choosing a Gas Barbeque Grill: 1. Skip the Mess If you\'ve ever struggled to get just the right amount of charcoal, layered just so and geared to what you\'re cooking you will understand this complaint. And in order to get the fire started quickly many people turn to lighter fluid which has an unpleasant odor which permeates the food.
On the other hand, a gas barbecue grill is a snap to start, light and maintain the grilling surface at an even, easy to control temperature. Gas grills can be connected directly to a gas line on your home or fueled with a refillable propane tank. So with a turn of a switch and click of a button your barbeque grill is ready to cook!
2. Better Control of the Cooking Surface With charcoal grills you are somewhat limited in your control of the temperature that you cook on. And while a true grilling expert can manage the temperature to match the type of food they are cooking, the average weekend warrior may find this a frustrating factor.
Gas grills typically feature a temperature control know allowing you to raise or lower the cooking surface temperature. They also typically have multiple burners allowing you to change the temperature for different types of food. This makes it a much more manageable task to cook fish, ribs or anything else you can think of at the same time.
3. Easy clean up When you are done cooking on a gas barbeque grill simply clean off the grill surface and turn off the fuel! But with charcoal you have to wait for the temperature to come down on the briquettes and then find a way to dispose of them. Another great aspect of a gas barbeque grill is the ability to add fragrance to your foods without that heavy charcoal and starter odor. Wood chips flavored in hickory, cherry, mesquite or apple wood chips add great variety to any barbecue. Other great features of gas grills: 1. Rotisseries did you know that you can run your own rotisserie right in your own backyard? Top grills like Lynx and OCI now offer motorized rotisseries built right into the grill housing! Some motors even come with variable speed so you can control the type of cooking. 2. Sear Burners Need to cook something on an especially high heat for a short period of time? That is no problem for today s gas bbq grills. Sear burners can come either installed as strips in the back of the grilling surface or added as a side burner to the exterior of the grill for increased flexibility. Of all the conveniences of a gas grill this one may be the best! 3. Accessories, accessories and more accessories gas bbq grills may include lighted cooking surfaces, warming drawers, vent hoods to clear the smoke, cocktail stations and any number of other great accessories to add spice to your outdoor cooking experience.
